It is officially summer and at Meridian that means SUMMER CAMP!! Last Monday Meridian kicked off a superhero-themed day camp for children entering first through fifth grades experiencing trouble focusing due to attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder and disruptive behavior disorder. received_10153804637858889 This eight-week program, dubbed the Super Flexible Thinker Training Camp, features group and individual treatment designed teach children skills for success, such as how to understand and manage their emotions, interact appropriately with others, and problem-solve. The camp incorporates games, group activities and field trips to practice these skills under the guidance of a master-level therapist. The program is an investment in the future wellness of the community, Crawford said. Designed for elementary-aged students, the program reduces participants’ risk of dropping out of school in later years. The camp is hosted Bridge House on Meridian’s main campus, located at 4300 SW 13th Street, Gainesville, Fla., and is offered at no cost to families. Lunch and snacks are provided. It runs from June 13 through August 5, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the exception of July 4-8.
