Recovery Art Exhibit Thanks, again, to all who attended last week’s Recovery Art exhibit and Open House. We were thrilled to open the doors to Meridian’s new administration building to our supporters, and glad you joined us in the celebration. And, a special thanks to the artists from AnARTists and Gainesville Opportunity Center for exhibiting their work and discussing the positive impact self-expression can have in recovery. AnARTists coordinator Maggie Hannon facilitated the exhibit, which will remain an ongoing installation of the building’s décor. Thank you all for helping make the evening a great success. Representatives from Meridian programs – Supportive Services for Veteran  Families (SSVF), Children’s Case Management and more – were on hand to speak with guests about the services available, and attendees were invited to participate in an interactive art piece, creating the image of a dove out of scores of guests’ paint-dipped thumb prints. The evening culminated in a short presentation by Meridian CEO, Dr. Maggie Labarta, on the prevalence and impact of mental illness, and appreciation for community members supporting our mission. Our appreciation to the artists contributing work to the exhibit and ongoing installation: Terry Strayer, Grace Hubbard, Catherine Kennedy, Charissa Krasnow, Ouida McIlhinney, Ann Cooper and Theresa Foster. Thank you, artists, for sharing your work and your stories.
