We are thrilled to announce Meridian received a grand total of $2,600 in donations on #GivingTuesday!
#GivingTuesday is a day of global fundraising that takes place each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving! Non-profits from around the world raise funds to further their programs, services, and facilities. Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. participates each year and this year was no different!
This year all money raised will benefit our current capital campaign to renovate and build a new wing on the MIST unit that houses mothers and their children.
MIST is currently a 10-bed, multi-faceted treatment program for substance-using pregnant and postpartum women housed within the Sid Martin Bridge House in Gainesville. In the MIST program, infants stay with the mother, allowing for crucial bonding that takes place in the early months of development while allowing the mother to receive treatment and remain drug-free during nursing.
Renovations and expansion to the MIST program will not only allow the program to grow, it will allow mothers to include all children (including teens) in the treatment process by living with them on the unit.
The MIST program is a highly-effective and unique program, making it the only program of its kind in the State of Florida; and one of the few in the country. With this expansion, the opportunities for success are endless.
If you have any questions about #GivingTuesday and/or the MIST program and expansion, please do not hesitate to reach out to David Rountree at david_rountree@mbhci.org or 352-374-5600 ext. 8187.
Thank you to all who participated and made #GivingTuesday 2017 a success!
