The holiday season is an opportunity for Meridian clients to connect with the community to celebrate and look back at the wonderful year we had. This time of year is also an opportunity to give back to the many great programs and organizations within the community.
On December 12th from 1:00-3:30pm, clients of Meridian will participate in the annual Arts and Crafts Festival. This Festival is an opportunity for client’s to showcase their talents and creativity while making some extra money for the holiday season.
So often people with mental illness are stigmatized in society. The Festival is a place to tout their talents and abilities. Art pieces range from simple key chains to high-quality paintings, mosaics and jewelry.
All items are made and sold by clients of Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, Inc., “Having the yearly Arts and Crafts Festival is a personal therapy technique,” said Jeannie Valk, a longtime participant in the Festival. “It helps us keep our minds occupied and in a better place as we strive to create and express, elevating our self-esteem to accomplish bigger and better tasks in our lives.”
The Festival will be held on December 12, 2014, in the Community Room on Meridian’s Gainesville campus. Please contact Kathy Miller, Job Coach, for more information at (352) 374-5600 Ext. 8137 if you have any questions regarding the event.
We hope to see you all there!
