Child Substance Abuse Outpatient & Intervention
Children's Outpatient services provide assessment, forensic services, intervention and family, group and individual therapy for substance users and their families. Treatment goals, objectives and services are aimed at eliminating alcohol or other drug use and improving functioning. Outpatient individuals may be required to attend 12 Step meetings as a therapy adjunct. Abstinence is monitored via breathalyzers and urine drug screening.
Intervention services are provided for at risk youths. Traditional outpatient substance abuse treatment counseling is provided to youths with a documented history or self-report of substance abuse. Outpatient mental health services are provided in both individual and group setting for youth with mental health issues. The objective for treatment is to allow youth to remain at home and community alcohol and drug free, with an awareness of problems and risk involved in continued substance abuse, and to stabilize any mental health issues. These services can help to reduce the likelihood of family disruptions, mental health problems, or substance abuse problems by building resilience. The program can also provide services designed to help the individual accept the risk of or develop an awareness of an actual problem of substance abuse, as well as increase the readiness for treatment, if and when necessary.
Not all youth are ready to participate in treatment as the result of other life circumstances. These factors include the presence of emotional and/or disruptive behavior problems, abuse histories, and/or another family member's substance abuse problems. Intervention level services can prepare them for treatment while reducing the impact of these other factors.
Programs that persons can access include the ROPES course and Late Night Basketball. These programs are strength-based and encourage individual participation to develop team building and to offer alternatives to unhealthy lifestyles.
