Achievement Center, Youth Group Home
The Achievement Center is a 12-bed residential group home providing treatment for adolescent boys with serious emotional or behavioral problems and/or a mental illness. Many have been abused and neglected. The program offers therapeutic (individual, group, and family therapy) and supportive services, and a structured living environment that assists in developing positive behaviors, independent living skills and coping skills to deal with family or personal life problems. The goal is to return the child to the community, the home, or a less intensive level of care. Treatment is individualized and involves the participation of the child, family, and other agencies that are following his progress and involved with the child. Residents attend regular school or an alternative school. They also receive transportation to dental, doctor and eye examinations and are referred for psychological evaluation or specialized treatment as indicated.
