Direct Client Care
C.N.A. Required - Salary 10.00 / hour
Job Summary
This is an entry-level position providing supportive counseling, psycho-educational lectures and ancillary services within the Crisis Stabilization Unit. The position requires the ability to model behaviors and work as a member of the treatment team in reaching the goals of the individualized client treatment plan, as well as the goals of the program.
Duties and Performance Standards
- 1. Assists the treatment team in providing direct client care. Aids in ensuring an orderly, safe and therapeutic milieu by maintaining a therapeutic relationship with clients and treats clients with dignity and respect at all times.
- 2. Supervises clients to help maintain a safe and clean environment and sets standards for milieu monitoring through the performance of these tasks.
- 3. Observes, reports and documents client interaction among peers, staff and the community as it relates to clients individual treatment goals.
- 4. Models appropriate behavior for the clients in and out of the Center.
- 5. Assists the client with the implementation and completion of treatment work and assists with therapeutic interventions when appropriate to provide positive and negative consequences.
- 6. Assists in the facilitation of substance abuse education and other psycho-educational groups.
- 7. Assists clients in daily living, social skills and recreational activities.
- 8. Interacts with clients and when necessary intervenes between clients and staff to maintain milieu homogeneity.
- 9. Provides transportation and supervision during doctor appointments, emergencies or recreational activities as needed.
- 10. Maintains the confidentiality of program clients at all times.
- 11. Identifies potential maintenance-related problems on the unit, in the facility, or campus and corrects them or reports them by completing and submitting the appropriate maintenance work order forms.
- 12. Administers random and scheduled Breathalyzer and urinalysis tests, completes and submits appropriate forms. Monitors and records client self-administration. Administers CPR, and/or applies first aid when necessary.
- 13. Provides services to assigned clients and families that may include a wide range of care, i.e. prevention, intervention and outpatient, Day Treatment, intensive In-Home/On Site and residential treatment. Provides crisis intervention, under supervision, for clients as needed and other services in schools, client homes and in the clinic.
- 14. Maintains familiarity and compliance with Meridian program policies and procedures.
- 15. Maintains current First Aid, CPR and other professional training as required by contract with the State and other accrediting bodies. Pursues additional training in Addictions, counseling and childcare to ensure continued professional growth while maintaining knowledge of current trends in addictions and mental health.
- 16. Assists in the Centers CQI efforts.
- 17. Facilitates continuity of care within the agency and community for assigned clients.
- 18. Provides sufficient services to generate projected revenue (prorated for portion of year during which employee was with Meridian).
- 19. Complies with needed administrative documentation for payroll, travel reimbursement, etc.
- 20. Aligns individual goals, objectives and daily activities with program, departmental, organizational and ADM performance goals and objectives.
- 21. Assists in the supervision or orientation of students and interns.
- 22. Performs other duties as required to meet program and departmental goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
C.N.A. Certification is required for all Direct Care positions within the Meridian Network., a high school diploma or GED and two years of related addictions experience. Must be currently working in, or experienced in counseling/mental health/addictions field. Must be available ( sometimes on short notice ) nights and/or weekend.
