Job Summary

This is an advanced professional counseling position providing clinical evaluation, treatment, and consultation services to children, parents and other agency staff. Services are provided in a variety of settings to clients ranging from mild to severe disability. This position requires the ability to build professional, empathetic relationship with clients while providing efficient and appropriate direct clinical services.

General Duties
  • 1. Perform clinical assessments to determine diagnosis, level of care, treatment plan, and/or make recommendations to other agencies about these issues.
  • 2. Provides therapy services to assigned clients and family members in accordance with Center guidelines and procedures, and best practice standards for his/her profession.
  • a) Services are provided in schools, client homes, and in the clinic.
  • b) Therapy is offered in a number of modalities including individual, family, and group.
  • c) Therapy may include a range of levels of care from prevention and educational approaches to intensive on-site/in-home outpatient care.
  • d) Therapy is offered to clients with a range of problems including, but not limited to,
  • i) Mental health issues, based on DSM-IV diagnosis
  • ii) Substance abuse/dependence, based on DSM-IV diagnosis
  • iii) Issues related to sexual, physical, emotional abuse and its consequences.
  • e) Crisis intervention/assessment
  • i) Telephonic screening to determine need for services and eligibility.
  • ii) May conduct assessments to assess need for admission.
  • 3. Provides consultation services to staff from other agencies also working with the client.
  • 4. Provide sufficient services to meet revenue projections.
  • 5. Facilitates continuity of services within the agency and community for assigned clients.
  • 6. Documents all services provided in a timely and accurate manner, consistent with Center guidelines and procedures, and best practice standards for his/her profession.
  • 7. Documents all services and job duties as required for billing, payroll, and reimbursement purposes, in accordance with Center guidelines and procedures.
  • 8. Performs other duties as required to meet program and departmental goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree, from an accredited college or university, in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field and two (2) years of professional counseling experience, one of which must be with the specific population being served.
