Career Benefits
Health, Dental and Vision : We offer our employees a choice of major medical plan coverages, Employee only, Employee and Spouse, Employee & children or Employee and Family. We offer three affordable plans - an HSA eligible plan and two PPO plans through United Healthcare. Meridian currently pays 100% of employee coverage for the HSA eligible plan and credits the same dollar value toward the PPO plans. Benefits are available on the first day of the month following 90 days of employment or at open enrollment for full-time employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week for Meridian. We also offer a dental and vision plan.
Basic Life Insurance:
Meridian provides all active, full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week life insurance coverage calculated at 1 times their annual salary, rounded to the next highest $1, 000.00. The maximum benefit is $200,000. This is provided at no cost to the employee.
Voluntary Life Insurance:
Employees who want to supplement their group life insurance benefits may purchase additional coverage. Premiums vary with age of applicant and amount of insurance requested. Minimum coverages are $10,000 and maximum coverage is $500,000.
Long Term Disability:
Meridian provides full time employees with long-term disability income benefits, and pays the full cost of this coverage. The employee must be totally disabled for 90 days, able to provide medical evidence, and under a doctor's care. The maximum monthly benefit is $6,000.
AFLAC:
Meridian offers insurance plans from AFLAC (American Family Life Assurance Company) at reasonable rates for personal accident indemnity, personal cancer indemnity, short term disability, and hospital confinement. Flexible spending account plans are also available for medical expenses and dependent day care as well.
Holidays :Our employees receive ten paid holidays per calendar year. Employees are eligible for holiday pay immediately upon hire. Paid holidays include New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
Employee Assistance Program:
Meridian provides employees with a number of free, confidential counseling sessions to deal with mental health issues, substance abuse or stress related issues that have a negative impact on their positions.
Personal Time Off (PTO)
Regular employees begin to accrue paid, personal time off starting their first day of employment. Total time accrued ranges from 19 days per year for new hires to 29 days per year for those with over 10 years with the agency. Time is accrued biweekly and is prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week. Time is available as it is accrued by the employee.
Retirement Plan (VALIC or Social Security):
Employees may elect to have the Center contribute to the retirement program instead of Social Security. Meridian will contribute 7.5% of an employee's salary into a Defined Contribution Plan with VALIC (403) (b). Employees have the opportunity to contribute a percentage of their salary into the plan as well. Traditional Social Security contributions is also an option.
